In a certain sense, "iron & steel" has been the social skeleton of the West since the emergence of capitalism, while the "steel industry" is the spine of society. The "gunboats" of the Western powers that helped force open the Chinese territory were in fact supported by "iron & steel". It can be said that "the output and quality of iron & steel" determines the prospects and future of a nation.
